Wear & Care
Your INTENT jewellery should be handled with care at all times. All sterling silver will tarnish over time, but it will happen much faster when it comes into contact with agents such as perfume, salty air, sulphur, skincare creams, hairspray, chlorine and an acidic skin pH. Please make sure that your jewellery is always the last thing you put on when getting ready so as to avoid contact with all of those previously mentioned.
We encourage all customers to remove jewellery before sleeping, bathing, swimming, cleaning with harsh chemicals or during sporting activities.
The dual colour treatments of INTENT’s pieces mean that aside from silver, there are elements of silver plating throughout our collections. Both Black Rhodium Plated and Hard and Rose Gold Plated items will tarnish or alter in colour with the natural oils on your skin and general wear; please bear this in mind when making your purchase.
The amount of tarnishing (oxidation) that occurs is dependent on the skin and care habits of the wearer. Tarnishing is therefore not a manufacturing fault.
In order to care for your INTENT products, we recommend using a polishing cloth regularly to prevent the natural process of tarnishing and maintain shine; although this will not remove scratches.
Alternatively, clean your jewellery very gently using a soft cloth dampened in a solution of mild soap and lukewarm water, but ensure that your jewellery is never submerged.
Please note that a polishing cloth used with any cleaning compound is not suitable for your INTENT pieces. We do not recommend the use of silver polish and silver dip as it may destroy the delicate oxidised details of your jewellery.
We would like to think your pieces deserve plenty of love and TLC even after you take them off at the end of the day. Rather than keeping your jewellery sprawled across a surface in your bedroom or bathroom, it should be put to bed in a protective jewellery box or tarnish-resistant pouch.
Jewellery should be stored away from natural sunlight and heat at all times.
